Ingredients

Scale
  • 8 cups cubed bread (day-old works best)
  • 1 cup chopped celery
  • 1 cup chopped onion
  • 1/2 cup melted butter
  • 2 cups chicken or vegetable broth
  • 2 eggs, beaten
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1/2 tsp black pepper
  • 1 tsp dried sage
  • 1 tsp dried thyme

Instructions

1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C).

2. In a large bowl, combine bread cubes, celery, and onion.

3. Pour melted butter over the mixture and toss to coat.

4. Add broth, eggs, salt, pepper, sage, and thyme. Mix well.

5. Transfer to a greased casserole dish.

6. Bake for 45 minutes or until golden brown on top.

Notes

Use day-old bread for better texture.

Add cooked sausage or mushrooms for extra flavor.

Cover with foil if the top browns too quickly.

Can be prepped the day before and baked fresh for best results.
