Southern Maple Sweet Potato Casserole is creamy, sweet, and perfectly spiced for holiday meals. A comforting side dish topped with pecans or marshmallows that’s always a crowd-pleaser.

Ingredients

  • 4 cups cubed sweet potatoes
  • 1/4 cup unsalted butter
  • 1/3 cup maple syrup
  • 1/4 cup brown sugar
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1/2 tsp cinnamon
  • 1/4 tsp nutmeg
  • 1/4 tsp ground ginger
  • Pinch of salt
  • 1/2 cup chopped pecans or marshmallows for topping

Instructions

1. Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C).

2. Boil or steam sweet potatoes until tender.

3. Mash sweet potatoes with butter, maple syrup, spices, and vanilla.

4. Transfer to greased baking dish.

5. Top with pecans or marshmallows.

6. Bake 25–30 minutes until golden and bubbly.

7. Allow to rest 5 minutes before serving.

Notes

Use firm orange-fleshed sweet potatoes for best results.

Add spices or nuts to taste.

Reheat in oven to restore creaminess.
