A hearty and comforting baked dish that brings together all the flavors of classic chicken Parmesan in a cozy, family-friendly casserole format.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 4 cups Cooked Chicken, shredded (use rotisserie chicken for convenience.)
  • 2 cups Marinara Sauce (any jarred or homemade marinara works well.)
  • 1 cup Grated Parmesan Cheese (substitute with Pecorino for a sharper taste.)
  • 2 cups Shredded Mozzarella Cheese (can use part-skim mozzarella for a lighter option.)
  • 3 cups Cooked Pasta (e.g., penne or rotini) (feel free to use whole wheat or gluten-free pasta.)
  • 2 tablespoons Olive Oil (can substitute with avocado oil.)
  • 1 tablespoon Italian Seasoning (use fresh herbs if available for a brighter taste.)
  • 1 teaspoon Garlic Powder (fresh minced garlic can also be used, about 2 cloves.)
  • to taste Salt and Pepper (adjust according to preference.)
  • for garnish Fresh Basil or Parsley (can omit if unavailable but enhances presentation.)

Instructions

1. Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).

2. Warm the olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Add the shredded chicken, garlic powder, Italian seasoning, salt, and pepper. Stir and heat for about 5 minutes until the mixture is fragrant and heated through.

3. Combine cooked pasta, marinara sauce, half of the Parmesan, and half of the mozzarella in a mixing bowl.

4. Incorporate the seasoned chicken into the pasta mixture.

5. Pour the mixture into a greased 9×13-inch baking dish, spreading it evenly across the bottom.

6. Top with the remaining mozzarella and Parmesan.

7. Cover the dish with aluminum foil and bake for 30 minutes.

8. Remove the foil and bake for an additional 10 minutes until the cheese is bubbly and golden brown.

9. Cool for a few minutes before serving. Garnish with fresh basil or parsley.

10. For a fresh twist, drizzle a little extra olive oil over the top before serving.

Notes

This dish can be made ahead and stored in the refrigerator for up to 2 days before baking. Leftovers reheat well and also freeze beautifully for future cozy meals.
