Honey Garlic Chicken is a sweet and savory dish featuring tender chicken cooked in a flavorful sauce made from honey, garlic, soy sauce, and a hint of ginger. This easy recipe is perfect for busy weeknights and offers the perfect balance of sweet and salty flavors.

Ingredients

  • Chicken thighs or breasts
  • Salt and pepper, to taste
  • Olive oil
  • Honey
  • Soy sauce
  • Garlic, minced
  • Ginger (optional)
  • Cornstarch (optional, for thickening)
  • Green onions (optional, for garnish)

Instructions

1. Season chicken with salt and pepper.

2. Heat olive oil in a pan over medium-high heat. Cook chicken for 6–8 minutes per side until browned and cooked through.

3. In a small bowl, mix together honey, soy sauce, minced garlic, and ginger (if using).

4. Remove the chicken from the pan and pour the honey garlic mixture into the same pan.

5. Simmer the sauce for 2–3 minutes until slightly thickened.

6. Return the chicken to the pan and coat it in the honey garlic glaze.

7. If a thicker sauce is desired, mix a teaspoon of cornstarch with water and stir it into the sauce. Simmer until thickened.

8. Garnish with chopped green onions and serve warm with rice or vegetables.

Notes

For a juicier result, use chicken thighs instead of breasts.

To make a hands-off version, bake the chicken and then coat it in the honey garlic sauce.

Adjust the amount of honey or soy sauce to customize sweetness or saltiness.

Great paired with steamed broccoli or stir-fried vegetables.
