The savory taste of French onion soup combined with hearty ground beef and rice in this comforting casserole that’s perfect for busy weeknights.
1. Preheat oven to 425°F. Spray a 9×13 inch baking dish with cooking spray.
2. In a large skillet, add ground beef and garlic salt to season. Cook and crumble ground beef until browned and cooked through.
3. In the prepared baking dish, add uncooked rice and cooked ground beef. Pour in the beef consomme, French onion soup, and water. Stir until well combined.
4. Cut butter into slices and evenly place over the top of the casserole mixture.
5. Cover the dish tightly with foil and bake for 30 minutes.
6. Remove foil and continue baking for another 30 minutes.
7. Once done, fluff the casserole with a fork and serve hot.
To make cleanup easier, prepare this dish in a Dutch oven or cast iron skillet from start to finish.
