Ground Beef Orzo with Tomato Cream Sauce is a comforting and creamy one-skillet meal made with tender orzo, rich ground beef, and a velvety tomato cream sauce. This easy dinner is packed with flavor and ready in under 30 minutes.
1. Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Add the chopped onion and cook for 2–3 minutes until soft. Stir in the garlic and cook for another 30 seconds until fragrant.
2. Add ground beef to the skillet and cook until browned, breaking it apart with a spoon. Season with salt, pepper, oregano, and red pepper flakes if using.
3. Stir in the diced tomatoes (with juices), tomato sauce, and orzo. Mix everything to combine, then pour in 1 1/2 cups of water. Bring to a boil, then reduce to a simmer and cover. Cook for 10–12 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the orzo is tender.
4. Once the orzo is cooked and most of the liquid is absorbed, stir in the heavy cream and grated Parmesan. Let it simmer uncovered for 2–3 more minutes until creamy.
5. Remove from heat. Taste and adjust seasoning if needed. Sprinkle with chopped parsley and extra Parmesan before serving.
This dish is best enjoyed hot straight from the skillet, but it also makes fantastic leftovers. Store in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 3 days. To reheat, just add a splash of water or cream and warm over low heat to bring back the creamy texture.
