Learn our easy lasagna recipe with no boil noodles! This classic recipe uses two meats and three cheeses for amazing flavor. Your favorite store-bought spaghetti sauce keeps it simple.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 pound ground beef
  • ½ pound sweet Italian sausage
  • 1 teaspoon minced garlic
  • 48 ounces spaghetti sauce (your favorite sauce)
  • 15 ounces ricotta cheese (or cottage cheese)
  • 3 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 2 large eggs
  • 3/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 2 teaspoons dried parsley or 4 tablespoons freshly snipped
  • ¼ teaspoon salt
  • ¼ teaspoon ground pepper
  • 12 lasagna noodles
  • ¼ cup water (optional depending on sauce consistency)

Instructions

1. Preheat the oven to 350ºF and spray a 9×13 casserole dish with cooking spray.

2. In a large skillet over medium heat, brown the ground beef and sausage together. Drain off and discard any fat.

3. Add the minced garlic and spaghetti sauce to the skillet. Simmer for 5 minutes.

4. In a large bowl, mix together the ricotta, 2 cups of mozzarella, eggs, ½ cup Parmesan, dried parsley, salt, and pepper. Mix well.

5. Spread ¾ cup of sauce on the bottom of the baking pan. Cover with 3 uncooked lasagna noodles.

6. Top with ⅓ of the cheese mixture and ¼ of the sauce.

7. Repeat layers: noodles, cheese, sauce — two more times.

8. Top with 3 noodles, remaining sauce, and remaining 1 cup of mozzarella and Parmesan cheese.

9. If sauce is thick, add ¼ to ½ cup water to the edges of the pan to help cook the noodles.

10. Spray a sheet of aluminum foil with cooking spray and cover the baking dish (sprayed side down).

11. Bake for 50 minutes. Uncover and bake an additional 10 minutes.

12. Let the lasagna stand for 10 minutes before cutting and serving.

Notes

The liquids from the spaghetti sauce should be enough to cook regular lasagna noodles—no need for oven-ready noodles.

Add water only if the sauce is thick; skip it if using a runny sauce like Rao’s or Old World Style Ragu.

Top with fresh basil, oregano, or parsley for garnish.

Letting the lasagna rest after baking makes slicing cleaner.
