Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 lbs boneless skinless chicken thighs, cut into pieces
  • 1 large onion, finely chopped
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tablespoon fresh ginger, grated
  • 1 (15 oz) can tomato sauce
  • 1/2 cup heavy cream
  • 1/4 cup plain yogurt
  • 4 tablespoons unsalted butter
  • 2 tablespoons garam masala
  • 1 teaspoon ground cumin
  • 1 teaspoon paprika
  • 1/2 teaspoon chili powder
  • Salt and pepper, to taste
  • Fresh cilantro, chopped (for garnish)

Instructions

1. Place the chicken thighs, onion, garlic, and ginger in the bottom of the crockpot.

2. In a bowl, whisk together tomato sauce, garam masala, cumin, paprika, chili powder, salt, and pepper. Pour mixture over the chicken.

3. Add butter on top of the mixture. Cover and cook on low for 6 hours, or until chicken is tender.

4. Stir in yogurt and heavy cream, mixing well. Cook uncovered for an additional 15 minutes to heat through.

5. Garnish with fresh chopped cilantro before serving. Serve with rice or naan if desired.

Notes

Serve with basmati rice or naan for a complete meal.

You can adjust spice levels by increasing or reducing chili powder.

Greek yogurt can be used in place of plain yogurt for extra creaminess.

For a dairy-free option, use coconut milk in place of cream and yogurt.
