  • 2 tbsp butter
  • 2 tbsp flour
  • 2 cups milk
  • ½ tsp paprika
  • ½ tsp dry mustard

Instructions

1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) to get it ready for baking.

3. Bake the meatloaf layer for 20 minutes.

4. Cook the macaroni following package instructions until al dente, then drain.

5. Melt butter in a medium saucepan, stir in flour to create a roux, gradually add 2 cups milk, cooking until thickened. Season with ½ teaspoon salt, ¼ teaspoon pepper, ½ teaspoon paprika, and ½ teaspoon dry mustard. Stir in 1 ½ cups cheddar until melted and smooth.

6. Fold cooked macaroni into cheese sauce and pour over the meatloaf layer.

7. Sprinkle remaining ½ cup shredded cheddar on top.

9. Optional: Broil for 1-2 minutes for an extra crispy finish.

Notes

Mix Gently: Avoid overmixing the meatloaf to prevent a dense texture.

Watch the Moisture: Add an extra ¼ cup milk if the mac and cheese seems too dry.

Grease Well: Grease your baking dish to ensure easy serving.

Flavor Boosters: Adding minced garlic or Worcestershire sauce can enhance your dish.

Custom Creations: Swap out ground beef for ground turkey or chicken if desired.

Layer Smart: Press the meatloaf layer firmly for a better base.
