This Cabbage Roll Skillet is a quick and hearty one-pan meal that delivers all the flavors of traditional cabbage rolls in a fraction of the time. Ground beef, cabbage, and bell pepper are seasoned with Creole spices and topped with melty cheddar cheese. Perfect for busy weeknights or comfort food cravings.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 1 chopped yellow onion
  • 1 chopped bell pepper
  • 1 small head of cabbage, cored and chopped
  • 1 can (14 ounces) diced tomatoes
  • 2 teaspoons Creole seasoning (such as Tony Chachere’s)
  • 2 teaspoons garlic powder
  • 2 teaspoons smoked paprika
  • 1 teaspoon black pepper
  • 2 cups shredded cheddar cheese

Instructions

1. In a large skillet over medium heat, cook the ground beef until browned. Drain excess fat, leaving a few tablespoons in the pan if desired.

2. Add chopped onion and bell pepper to the skillet. Sauté for 3–4 minutes until slightly softened.

3. Mix in the chopped cabbage, diced tomatoes, and all the seasonings. Stir to combine.

4. Cover the skillet with a lid and cook for 20–25 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the cabbage is tender.

5. Taste and adjust seasoning if needed.

6. Sprinkle shredded cheddar cheese over the top, cover again, and let the cheese melt.

7. Serve hot as-is or over a bed of rice for a heartier meal.
