Banana Bread Brownies combine the moist sweetness of banana bread with the rich, chocolatey decadence of brownies. Easy to make and perfectly balanced, theyโ€™re a crowd-pleasing dessert or snack for banana and chocolate lovers alike.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 medium ripe bananas, mashed
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/4 cup brown sugar, packed
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, melted
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/3 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 cup chocolate chips (optional)

Instructions

1. Preheat the oven to 350ยฐF (175ยฐC). Grease a 9×9-inch baking pan or line it with parchment paper.

2. In a mixing bowl, mash the ripe bananas until smooth.

3. Add the granulated sugar, brown sugar, and melted butter to the bananas and mix until well combined.

4. Beat in the eggs and vanilla extract until fully incorporated.

5. In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour, cocoa powder, baking soda, and salt.

6. Gradually fold the dry ingredients into the banana mixture until just combined. Do not overmix.

7. Fold in the chocolate chips if using.

8. Pour the batter into the prepared baking pan and spread evenly.

9. Bake for about 25 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out with a few moist crumbs.

10. Allow the brownies to cool in the pan for 10 minutes before transferring to a wire rack to cool completely.

Notes

For extra banana flavor, add an additional mashed banana and slightly reduce the butter to maintain the proper texture.

Do not overmix the batter, as this can make the brownies dense.

Store leftovers in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 3 days or refrigerate for up to 1 week.

Serve warm or at room temperature, optionally topped with a scoop of vanilla ice cream.
